Night One of the new season

A new NHL season began with tight games in the eastern time zone and blowouts out west. The Leafs started to pile up the losses with their first game, going down to the Habs. Then we saw the Rangers get up on the Blackhawks early and hold on for the win. In the late games, Vancouver got revenge for their first round playoff loss to the Flames, with a couple of fights to boot. Finally, the Sharks debuted a new head coach and starting goalie and got up big on the Kings. Neither of these teams made the playoffs last year and LA once again displayed a lack of offense despite having plenty of talent. San Jose was led by the same old faces with the Joe’s each tallying and Burns and Marleau getting in on the action too. Congrats to Martin Jones for taking out his old team.

Thursday night will see the debut of McEichel, with both Connor McDavid and Jack Eichel playing early games. Then Phil the thrill rides into Dallas with the sharpshooters of Pittsburgh. This game could be a shootout as both teams were heavy on offense and light on defense last year.

The big question league wide is when will we see the first 3-on-3 overtime?

We will just have to watch and wait for now.
