Friday faceoffs
Day three in the NHL had 10 teams in action. The Red Wings handed Toronto their second straight loss, Justin Abdelkader had a hat trick, Dylan Larkin picked up his first goal and assist in the NHL in his first game, and U Maine Black Bear Jimmy Howard picked up the shutout. The Hawks got a victory in the second 3-on-3 OT of the year to spoil the Islanders Brooklyn debut. Columbus got bad goaltending in the third and lost to the Rangers. Meanwhile in New Jersey the Devils lost to Winnipeg.
Out west the Kings are already down to the Coyotes on a fluky goal. Surely LA can outscore Arizona, right? We will have to wait and see.
Saturday will see 14 games across the league. Eichel and McDavid are both in action, while Ovie and the Caps get a late start to the season.
