Finland – Day 1
Time to say goodnight and wait for Santa Claus to come. It was a great first day in Helsinki!
Flights went well, however upon getting into the Keflavik, Iceland airport we discovered our flight from there to Finalnd was mostly full of Canadian fans! We all kept our composure and the Christmas spirit and travelled in a civil fashion. We got to Helsinki, took advantage of the 24-hour grocery at the airport, arrived at our apartment for the next 2 weeks, and then met some new friends for dinner. A Facebook meetup-style group of English speakers in Finland gathers for Christmas Eve dinner every year and we connected with them. It was a great time meeting people from all over the world and then enjoying a walk under the Helsinki Christmas lights.
Tomorrow will be a nice quiet Christmas and then Saturday the World Juniors begin. USA versus Canada on the first day! Big game to start!!
